Since its inception in 1999, SHENU Meru Nedjem Khametic Temple has been rooted in activism and community service.

Queen Mother Imakhu is a lifelong activist, she is a current member of  the National Black Council of Elders, Newark Interfaith Clergy Alliance, I AM (Interfaith Action Movement), African Diaspora for Justice, Latino Action Network. She teaches that ministry is about changing the world by being personally responsible and accountable. According to ancient Khametic philosophy, we each must be active in making our lives, families, neighborhoods, and worlds better.

SHENU Temple has a community food distribution and multimedia outreach ministry.

If you would like to volunteer in our ministry, call 646-228-1185.

Special thanks to our 2020 Food Distribution partner Richie Belford, owner of White Rose Diner in Linden, NJ. By providing fresh lunch and breakfast sliders at cost, Newark neighbors-with-no-addresses were able to enjoy hot meals. Thanks, Richie!

Special thanks to our 2020-21 Food Distribution partner Pastor Melvin Wilson and Saint Matthew AME Church in Orange, NJ. SHENU Temple, along with other spiritual organizations, was able to pick up food boxes at Saint Matthew that were provided by Essex County. We distributed to our recipient families immediately after pick up. Thank you for your commitment to community, Pastor Wilson and Saint Matthew AME Church!
